Dr. Curtis "Curt" Connors is a fictional character from Marvel Comics. He was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963. American actor Dylan Baker played the character in the second and third of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films between 2004 to 2011. In the aforementioned films the character's "Lizard" persona is not portrayed.

History Edit

Spider-Man Edit

Dr. Curt Connors was only mentioned, very briefly, in the film Spider-Man (2002) as Peter's laboratory supervisor who fired him for being late.

Spider-Man 2 Edit

Connors is depicted as a amputee who is missing his right arm below the elbow. The reasoning is not revealed and is assumed to be the same as in the comics. His also revealed to be a colleague/friend of Dr. Otto Octavius who had his right arm amputated earlier in his life. He is a Columbia University physics professor concerned for Peter Parker's well-being and academic performance in his quantum mechanics course.

Peter is seen studying with several textbooks for this course, two of which can be made out as quantum mechanics and photonics books. Octavius, recalls Peter's name when the two first meet and tells Peter that Connors considers him "brilliant, but lazy." Otto chuckles about his friend's assumption regarding Peter's laziness once he finds out Peter is also Spider-Man.

Spider-Man 3 Edit

Months later Peter turns to Connors to analyze the substance of the parasitic Venom symbiote and after analysis, Connors informs him that it makes people more aggressive and that it has a particular liking for him. He was also seen carrying out research on animal subgects, hinting at his future mutation into The Lizard.

Spider-Man 4 Edit

While scripting Spider-Man 4 Raimi expressed interest in portraying Connors transformation into his villainous alter-ego, the Lizard. Both actor Dylan Baker and producer Grant Curtis were also enthusiastic about the idea. However, Spider-Man 4 was eventually scrapped and the series re-booted with 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man which, ironically, had The Lizard as the main antagonist portrayed by Rhys Ifans. Constantine Sekeris' concept art was released on the internet showing what Baker's character would have looked like had the fourth film went ahead.
