Spider-Man: The Future of Evolution (also referred to as simply Spider-Man 5 or SM5) is an upcoming American superhero action film directed by Robert Schwentke in his directorial debut and written by James Vanderbilt. Schwentke served as the editor for the past four Spider-Man films. The film stars Tobey Maguire. It is the fifth installment in the Spider-Man series. The film is scheduled to be released on November 6, 2015. In addition to opening in regular theaters, it will also be shown in 3D, Real 3D, and IMAX 3D.

A teaser trailer was released on July 15, and promotional stills were released afterwards. The official first trailer was released the following day at midnight.
The film was originally slated for November 20, 2013, and then delayed to November 2014. On November 17, 2014, it was announced the movie would be titled Spider-Man: The Future of Evolution, and that it was set to be released on March 20, 2015. On February 27, 2015, Columbia Pictures announced it has pushed the release date back to November 6, 2015.
On September 5, 2014, Columbia announced it had set release dates for the next two Spider-Man films. The sixth film was scheduled for release on May 21, 2021 and the seventh film scheduled to be released on June 27, 2025 On February 28, 2015, Maguire confirmed that he will return for the first sequel.
